Photo Album

Here are some photos of Yours Truly. I have many others, but I am not ready to post them yet. But rest assured, they will be here soon.

One of the things I am working on is a way to show friends some photos that I don't necessarily want to show perfect strangers, yet let others see the pictures that I'm willing to show off, such as these:

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, October 2004

MDOT hosted the Southbelt Shuffle, an official "open house" showing off a 5-mile soon-to-be-opened section of M-6, or South Beltline Freeway.

"Shufflers" like myself were invited to walk or bicycle the new freeway between the Kalamazoo Avenue and Byron Center Avenue exits.

A long time ago, someone told me to "go play out on the freeway".

I finally got a chance to do just that...  literally. :)

Mackinaw City, Michigan, USA, October 2002

This is where two of the five Great Lakes (Lake Michigan and Lake Huron) meet, separating Michigan's two peninsulas. I am sitting near the very northernmost point of the Lower Peninsula, at Mackinaw City.

Behind me is the Mackinac Bridge, which provides a vehicular link between the Upper and Lower Peninsula.

The weather can change very rapidly in this area, as can be seen by the storm that was starting to form over the water.

Paradise, Michigan, USA, October 2002

The name says it all.

Here I am quite literally at the edge of Paradise, a small village located in the northeastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, at the peak of Autumn's burst of colors.

This whole area, near the shores of Lake Superior, was breathtakingly beautiful and a joy to explore.

Lake of the Clouds, Michigan, USA, September 2001

This is one of the most beautiful spots in the U.S. It is also somewhat isolated, but well worth the trip.

Given what had happened in the States earlier that month, I felt I had to get away for a long weekend. So I travelled to Michigan's western Upper Peninsula and found myself at peace again.

If you ever get a chance to go there, go. This sunrise photo doesn't do any justice to such a gorgeous, spectacular sight.

Niagara, WI, USA, September 2001

This is one of my favorite pictures.

It was taken from the south bank (Wisconsin side) of the Menominee River, looking across to the rocky cliffs on the edge of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Another good part of this picture may be that the bozo with the green jacket is behind the camera this time, instead of in front of it. :)

London, England, April 2001

Behind me is the Tower Bridge along the river Thames.

I'm happy here because I love to travel, and also because I was smiling not only at the camera, but also at the person taking the picture of me.

Even so, it was getting bitter cold on that grey April afternoon and I couldn't wait to get out of the steady freezing drizzle.
