Roadpix - Michigan's Transition To Clearview

A topic of a lot of recent discussion on misc.transport.road and Yahoo! greatlakesroads concerns the advent of the Clearview font, which is now being transitioned to all signage in Michigan, as shown in the "Before" and "After" pictures below.

Click to view larger image After: Here are two photos of another, newer mile marker, this one along I-96. This one as you can clearly see is rendered in Clearview.

It's hard to tell, but the word "Mile" is in Clearview also.

For decades, Michigan state highway reassurance markers used signage such as this, rendered in the FHWA font.

After: Here are two photos of another, newer I-96 marker, this time with the directional banner rendered in Clearview. This was the first such occurence I noticed statewide.

Click to view larger image Also notice the larger first letter "E" in the word "East". While this has been a normal practice in many other states, Michigan is just beginning to adopt this standard.

This marker represents the new standard, going forward.
